Delsman leads State Open at the midway point

August 20, 2014 By Bill Scott

Charlie Delsman shot a 67 on Tuesday to move to 8-under par 136 at the midway mark of the 94th Wisconsin State Open.  He takes a 1-shot lead over Menasha’s Ryan Helminen into the final 36-holes today at the Bull at Pinehurst Farms.

Delsman shot a 30 on the back nine with birdies on 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.  He’s never won the State Open, losing in a playoff in 2010 and finishing 3rd in 2011.

Helminen won the State Open back in 2008.  He fired a 69 yesterday.  Madison’s Andrew Steinhofer, who won the 2012 championship, shot a 67 and is two shots back heading into the final day today.

A total of sixty-two golfers made the cut (9-over 153).
