An attempt to pull over a suspected drunk driver turned into a series of high speed chases in Wood County Saturday night.

Wisconsin Rapids officers tried to pull over 47-year-old Christopher Ostrum just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Ostrum instead accelerated westbound on West Grand Avenue, leaving the city on Highways 73 and 80. Police already had Ostrum’s license number and called off the chase.

A short time later, Pittsville officers spotted Ostrum on Highway 73. He again took off at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour. He was next spotted by Wood County deputies, and was stopped after officers deployed tire spikes on Highway 10 near Marshfield.

Officers say Ostrum remains in custody awaiting a court appearance. There were no injuries and no property damage during the three chases.
