Shawano County deputies and police are searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl along a rural road on Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Gordon Kowaleski says the incident happened at 1:10 p.m. as the victim was walking along a sand road between corn fields at a Town of Birnamwood farm. The girl told police that a male subject tried to grab her. The girl did escape the subject and was able to flee to a nearby residence, where she called authorities.

Kowaleski says a person of interest has been identified. He’s a white male that is 6 foot 2 inches tall, and was wearing a black sweatshirt or long sleeve t-shirt, lighter blue jeans with holes in them, and white tennis shoes.
