Motorcyclist killed in collision with bear

August 4, 2014 By WRN Contributor

A motorcycle operator has died after colliding with a bear.

At 12:40 p.m. Sunday, the Langlade County Sheriff’s Department received several 911 calls reporting the collision. Sheriff Bill Greening says 50-year-old Gary Stevens of Bowler was traveling on Highway 64 near Hill Road when he struck the bear.

Stevens was initially taken to Langlade Hospital, and then flown to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries later the same day.
