Marquette lands Florida prospect

September 6, 2014 By Bill Scott

The Marquette men’s basketball team has landed another prize recruit, 6’5 swingman Haanif Cheatham from Pembroke Pines Charter High School in Florida.  Cheatham gave his oral commitment to the Golden Eagles on Friday.

Cheatham averaged 26.2 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists a game as a junior and was named the 2013-14 Florida Dairy Farmer’s Class 6A Player of the Year.

Cheatham chose Marquette over Georgetown and California among others.  He’s ranked the 78th-best player in the 2014 class by ESPN and number 68 by Rivals.com.
