Warhawks roll in opener

September 6, 2014 By Bill Scott

Top ranked and defending NCAA Division III champion UW-Whitewater rolled in their season opener last night, 73-7 over Waldorf at Perkins Stadium.

Sophomore reserve quarterback Chris Nelson threw four touchdown passes, three of them in the first half as the Warhawks (1-0) built a 49-0 lead.  Nelson finished 10 of 15 for 153 yards.  He came on in relief of senior starter Matt Behrendt, who took most of the night off after completing 4 of 5 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
