Badgers womens hockey team returns to winning ways

Goals by Katy Josephs and Baylee Wellhausen allowed the 2nd-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team to knock off Bemidji State 2-1 on Friday night at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Wisconsin (7-2-0, 5-2-0-0 WCHA) outshot Bemidji State (4-3-0, 0-3-0-0 WCHA) 31-15 over the course of the game, and held a 9-2 shot advantage after the first period.

With nine minutes left in the first period, Josephs tallied her fourth goal of the season.  Wellhausen gave the Badgers a 2-0 lead midway through the second period.

Ann-Renee Desbiens made 14 saves in net to earn her fifth win of the season.

Wisconsin and BSU meet again on Saturday in a 4 p.m. contest.
