Hockey Badgers shutout in Alaska

October 11, 2014 By Bill Scott

The 10th ranked Wisconsin hockey team dropped their season opener 1-0 at the Kendall Hockey Classic in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday night.

Alaska Nanooks defenseman Colton Parayko’s slap shot on the power play, over the right shoulder of Landon Peterson, found the back of the net for the only goal of the night.

The Badgers, who dressed eight freshman for the game, were outshot 31-14 and lost to Alaska for the first time ever.  Wisconsin’s record over the Nanooks is now 7-1.

The Badgers play again tonight, a 10 p.m. face off against Alaska-Anchorage.

Badger women victorious

The 2nd ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team improved to 5-0 on the season.  The Lady Badgers blanked Ohio State 6-0 in the home opener at LaBahn Arena.
