Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon and Joe Schobert have been honored today with the Big Ten’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Gordon set a school, Big Ten and Football Bowl Subdivision record with 408 rushing yards on 25 carries, including four touchdowns, as Wisconsin defeated nationally ranked Nebraska.

Gordon recorded four carries of at least 40 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.  He averaged 16.3 yards per carry.

This is Gordon’s third Big Ten Player of the Week award and second this season.

Joe Schobert registered 11 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, a half sack, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery in Saturday’s win over Nebraska.  His 11 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss were both career highs.  It’s his first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.

The Badgers beat Nebraska 59-24 on Saturday.  They’ll face the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City this Saturday.
