Madison’s Steve Stricker is one shot off the lead after the opening round of the Hero World Challenge in Windemere, Florida on Thursday.

Stricker hasn’t played since the PGA Championship, yet made five birdies in a bogey-free round of 67 and trails first round leader Jordan Spieth by 1-shot.  Stricker also shares second place with Henrik Stenson, Rickie Fowler and Zach Johnson.

Tiger Woods also hasn’t played since the August 9 PGA Championship because of lingering back issues.  Woods dubbed four chip shots around the green and had only four birdie chances inside 20 feet, stumbling to a 5-over-par 77.
