Bucks add point guard insurance

January 28, 2015 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Bucks logo 2The Milwaukee Bucks added point guard Jorge Gutierrez to their roster today, signing him to a 10-day contract.  Gutierrez will add some depth to the position after losing Kendall Marshall for the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.

The Bucks don’t need to make a roster move because Larry Sanders is currently serving a 10-game drug suspension and is being moved to the team’s suspended list.

The 26-year old Gutierrez played with the Canton Charge of the NBA’s Development League this season.  He played in 10 games for the Nets this past season, averaging 4.1 points and 2.0 assists while playing for Jason Kidd last season.

The 6’3 guard was averaging 15.2 points and 6.0 assists in six games with Canton, including five starts.

Kenyon Martin

There’s no word on whether or not the Bucks will sign Kenyon Martin for the rest of the season.  Martin’s second 10-day contract expires today.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo has been selected to participate in the 2015 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge as part of the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend.

This years showcase of talent will debut a format that pits 10 first and second year NBA players from the United States against 10 first and second year NBA players from around the world.

Antetokounmpo is averaging 11.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game.
