Governor Scott Walker takes another step toward joining the Republican race for the presidency.

Walker has formed a tax-exempt political group to help him boost his possible 2016 bid for the White House. The governor first told the Washington Post about his new committee “Our American Revival.” It will help spread the message and underwrite his activities. It’s a phrase Walker’s been using in his recent speeches at national conservative events.

This is the first formal step the governor has taken in what is becoming a crowded field of Republican presidential hopefuls. The announcement of the new political group comes after Walker spent much of January ramping up his likely declaration of candidacy, including a well-received appearance in Iowa on Saturday. Walker is also finalizing a new two-year state budget he’ll submit to the legislature next Tuesday.

The announcement includes a new website also called Our American Revival.
