Marquette drops Big East opener

MarquetteGoldenEagles2The Marquette Golden Eagles had a 49-36 lead midway through the second half.  That’s when the DePaul BlueDemons went on a 25-9 run and pulled out a 61-58 victory in the Big East opener for both teams.

Billy Garrett Jr. scored eight of his 19 points in the final 3:31, sending the Golden Eagles to their 5th loss (8-5) of the season.

Duane Wilson and Matt Carlino had 11 points each in the Marquette loss.

Jamee Crockett added 13 in the win for DePaul.
