Packers to meet with Minnesota Gopher TE (Audio)

February 19, 2015 By Bill Scott

NFL-LogoThe Green Bay Packers are one of 20-plus NFL teams scheduled to meet with Minnesota Gophers TE Maxx Williams during the league Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

The Packers, with the 30th pick in the first round of the draft, may have a shot at Williams, who is considered to be the best tight end coming out of college this year.

The 6’3, 249 pound Williams, declared for the draft at the age of 20.

Brandon Bostick

One day after getting released by the Packers, tight end Brandon Bostick was claimed off of waivers by the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday.  He becomes the fifth tight end on the Vikings roster.

Vikings want Peterson back

The Minnesota Vikings say they expect Adrian Peterson to be back on the field in the Twin Cities this season.  Peterson is set to be reinstated April 15.  He was suspended Nov. 18 by the NFL following a no contest plea in his child abuse case.

Bears not committing to Cutler

New Chicago Bears head coach John Fox, speaking at the NFL scouting combine, was noncommittal on quarterback Jay Cutler.

Fox said the Bears would explore “all avenues” at quarterback from free agency to his roster to the draft.  Cutler signed a seven-year, $126 million contract extension before last season and is guaranteed to make $15.5 million this year.

“I don’t think there’s any question there’s ability and talent there,” Fox said referring to Cutler.  “But there’s a lot more that goes into it, and we’re evaluating that as we speak.”
