‘Sun Prairie Jimmy’ issues a biting forecast

February 2, 2015 By WRN Contributor

Jimmy made a painful prediction in Sun Prairie on Monday morning. It was thought that Wisconsin’s answer to Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow – considering the sun was out – and that would mean six more weeks of winter. But in the end, it’s what the groundhog whispers in the mayor’s ear.

“He says that he didn’t see his shadow, so it will be an early spring,” said Mayor John Freund. Jimmy’s handlers initially said the mayor got it wrong, but Freund’s office issued a statement saying only he can translate Jimmy‘s prediction, so it stands that we’ll have an early spring.

Jimmy’s annual prediction came with a little added excitement this year – the furry prognosticator bit Freund on the ear. The mayor’s office said he’s doing just fine. Meanwhile Phil, the groundhog by which all others are measured, saw his shadow on Monday morning, so according to him there will be six more weeks of winter.
