The Providence Friars had a busy day on the offensive glass and rebounded their way to a 77-66 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles in Big East action on Sunday in Providence, Rhode Island.
The Friars (20-9, 10-6 Big East) pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and turned them into 18 second chance points. Providence out-rebounded Marquette 45-25 overall. LaDontae Henton pulled down 15 rebounds, eight on offense, and led all scorers with 25 points. Henton is the top scorer in the Big East Conference this season. He surpassed 1,000 rebounds and is now just 17 points shy of 2,000 for his career.
Duane Wilson had 22 points and Matt Carlino 21 for Marquette (11-17, 3-13).
Marquette has two games left in the regular season, both at home. The Golden Eagles host St. John’s on Wednesday and DePaul on Saturday.
