If state lawmakers propose a ban on abortions after 20 weeks, Governor Walker says he’ll sign it into law.

Wisconsin Right to Life supports the rule. Executive director Heather Weininger says hopefully the governor’s announcement will provide momentum, and a state lawmaker will introduce a bill.

Some experts believe an unborn child can feel pain, at 20 weeks. Others in the medical field dispute that.

Walker didn’t take a stance on the 20-week ban when he was on the campaign trail last year. He’s a likely Republican presidential candidate in 2016, and he says he would support the proposal at the federal level.
