“Rent a Player” comments drawing scrutiny (google hangout – video)

April 8, 2015 By Bill Scott

Wisconsin Badger head coach Bo Ryan didn’t take the National championship game loss to Duke on Monday night in stride.

Ryan created a stir during his post game press conference when referring to the type of players he likes to recruit with the Badgers.

Ryan’s “rent-a-player” quote caught on and went viral.  Wisconsin isn’t known for having freshmen leave after one season, while Duke could see Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow all head to the NBA.

The Badgers also beat Kentucky in the national semifinals, another team well know for one-and-done recruits.

Following Duke’s 68-63 win over the Badgers, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill took to Twitter to share her views on college basketball’s “One and done” rule with a Tweet that looked like a backhanded compliment to the Blue Devils.

Reaction: McCaskill was getting blasted by fans across social media websites.

MissouriNet Sports Director Bill Pollock wrote about that story, so together we decided to hook up in a google hangout to discuss the issue.
