Northern Kentucky to join Horizon League in July

Horizon League LogoNorthern Kentucky University has been approved as the newest member of the Horizon League.  The move becomes official on July 1, 2015, in time for the 2015-16 academic year.

The University’s board of regents voted today to join the Horizon League.

NKU will compete in 17 of 19 Horizon League sports.  The addition gives the Horizon League 10 full members.

The move is expected to significantly reduce travel costs.  Seven of the nine schools currently in the league, are located within 300 miles of the Northern Kentucky University campus.

Ken Buthof is the Athletic Director at NKU,  He is the former A.D. at Green Bay.
