Green Bay police have released the identity of the woman found inside a vehicle shot to death on the UW-Green Bay campus.
Police say 39-year-old Krystal Torres-Smith of Green Bay was found dead inside a vehicle parked at the Lambeau Cottage lot on Nicolet Drive early Monday morning. An autopsy conducted by the Brown County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that the mother of three had been shot multiple times in an apparent homicide.
Green Bay Police Lt. Chad Ramos says the murder is not a random act and is asking anyone who may have information about her death to contact them. Online court records show Torres-Smith had prior convictions for possession of THC and drunk driving, and Ramos says they are looking at her history to find out how she spent her days leading up to her death.
The investigation is ongoing and school officials say it’s the first murder on campus-owned property in their history.
