An Oshkosh aviation company is mourning the loss of its CEO and another employee, who were killed in a plane crash Tuesday near the Oshkosh airport. Sonex Aircraft CEO Jeremy Monnett and assembly mechanic Mike Clark died after their small yellow plane went down beyond the end of a runway at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.

Monnett and Clark were in a Sonex plane that first flew in 2007, and the company installed a new engine in recent months. A statement from the company said the plane’s performance had been flawless, and pilots took it on a flight to Florida earlier this year.

Company founder John Monnett says Sonex Aircraft will continue to operate, despite the loss of 40-year-old Jeremy Monnett and the 20-year-old Clark. He says it would be Jeremy’s wish to carry on.
