August movers should update address with DOT

August 16, 2015 By Andrew Beckett

August is a busy month for moving and anyone relocating is being urged to remember to update their address with the state Department of Transportation

State law requires anyone changing their permanent address to update it with the state within 10 days of moving. The process is simple, says Mark Dickinson with the Division of Motor. You can simply go to the DOT website and submit a change of address request.

You do not need to replace your driver’s license or photo ID, unless you plan to use it for air travel or you have a Commercial Drivers License. In those cases, you will have to obtain a replacement card.

A new license costs $14, plus a service fee. A new ID card is $16, plus a service fee.
