Body of fisherman recovered from Lilly Lake near Shawano

August 13, 2015 By WRN Contributor

Shawano Co crews search lake_1_jpg_475x310_q85Shawano County officials have found the body of a fisherman who went missing in a lake near Shawano. Sheriff’s Department Captain Tomas Tuma said 79-year-old Maynard Sohr was pulled from Lilly lake around 10 am on Thursday. The county dive team found the body using underwater cameras and advanced scanning sonar.

Sohr’s boat was found floating freely on the water around 11 am on Wednesday. Lilly Lake is one of the smaller lakes that feeds into Shawano Lake, northeast of the city of Shawano.

Tuma said Sohr’s spouse had been away and had not been in contact with her husband for a few days, so it’s not clear exactly when he went missing. The case is still under investigation, and Sohr’s cause of death has not been released.
