Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Matt Garza has absolutely no answer for the Washington Nationals. Garza allowed seven runs on eight hits in just 4 2/3 innings as the Brewers dropped a 9-5 decision at Washington.
Garza fell to 6-14 with a 5.26 ERA, tying him with Philadelphia’s Aaron Harang for most losses in the major leagues. In three starts at National’s Park, Garza has pitched just seven innings and given up 18 runs and 21 hits with an E-R-A of 23.14.
Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmerman was hittable, but he held on for 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits to earn the victory, his 10th of the season.
Garza had gone through a series of five starts in which his E-R-A was a solid 2.56. But in his last two starts, Garza has allowed 12 earned runs and 16 hits in just 9 2/3 innings.
The Brewers did get another home run from Khris Davis, his 9th in the month of August and 16th overall this season.
The Brewers get the day off today.
