Letroy Guion has been suspended without pay for the first three games of the 2015 season, losing his appeal with the NFL.
The penalty is the result of his offseason arrest in which police seized more than $190,000 in cash, 357 grams of marijuana and an unloaded gun in his truck.
Guion was notified of the three-game ban this week.
The Packers have been preparing themselves for a suspension ever since his arrest but they were hoping for only a game or two after Guion paid a $5,000 fine in a plea deal to avoid prosecution.
Guion stands to lose nearly a half-million dollars in salary as a result of the suspension. He is a projected starter at defensive end this season, which means the Packers will have to find a replacement for the first three games.
