Pitcher Jimmy Nelson put together another solid outing and helped the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Diego Padres 4-1, ending a six-game losing streak.

Nelson (9-9) allowed 3-hits and an un-earned run in 6 2/3 innings.  Over his last eight starts, Nelson is 6-1 with a 1.88 E-R-A and hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 20 2/3 innings.

It marked the fifth straight game that Nelson pitched into the seventh inning.

Jeremy Jeffress and Will Smith then got the game to the ninth with Francisco Rodriguez coming on.  He pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to save his 24th game in 24 chances this season.

Game three of the four game series is tonight at Miller Park.
