Two killed in fiery Highway 47 crash

August 19, 2015 By WRN Contributor

Two people are dead, after an SUV struck a semi hauling a load of plastic bags on State Highway 47 in Outagamie County on Wednesday. First responders went to the crash scene, just north of Black Creek, at around 11:30 a.m. Lieutennat Terry Hammen of the Outagamie County sheriff’s department said the driver of the SUV crossed the centerline. The semi driver swerved and the SUV struck the rig’s gas tank, causing an explosion.

The SUV driver died at the scene. The semi driver was airlifted to Theda Clark Medica Center in Neenah and died there. Hammen said the man had severe burns, and the semi was so badly damaged that investigators could not immediately identify what company owns it.
