The Milwaukee Brewers were 0 for 11 with runners in scoring position and fell to the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 at Miller Park.  The loss is the 7th straight for the Brewers, which drops them back into the Central Division basement.

Khris Davis and Jason Rogers hit solo home runs for the Brewers, who managed just seven hits against Cincinnati pitching.

Rookie Zach Davies gave up  Todd Frazier’s first-inning RBI single, but the Brewers tied the game on Davis’ 22nd home run of the season in the second inning.

Lefty Brandon Finnegan, acquired as part of the trade for Johnny Cueto earlier this season, was making his first major-league start.

Davies would run into problems again in the fourth, serving up a home run to Jay Bruce, his 31st of the season.  The Reds took a 3-1 lead.

Davies wound up allowing those three runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts in six innings.  He fell to 1-2.

Taylor Jungmann pitches game two of the series for the Brewers tonight.
