Green Bay man accused of killing 8 dogs

September 14, 2015 By WRN Contributor

A Green Bay man was arrested after police conducted a welfare check on him only to discover his apartment on fire and about 8 dead dogs inside. Officers responded at 7:30 a.m. Sunday after a 54-year-old man reported that he killed all of his dogs and set fire to his apartment.

When police arrived, they found the man leaving his upper apartment unit. He was arrested immediately. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department arrived and put out the flames in the upper apartment. The lower apartment was vacant at the time.

The man was taken to the hospital for the injuries he sustained in the fire. Emergency crews went inside the home and found the dogs. Investigators are still working to determine the official cause of the dogs’ deaths. The fire caused about $20,000 in damage.
