Madison police release sketch in ‘brutal’ sexual assault

September 15, 2015 By Bob Hague

mpdshieldPolice in Madison have released a sketch of a man in connection with their investigation into what’s been termed a brutal sexual assault over the weekend.

The attack, on a woman pedaling on a near east side bike path early Saturday, was so violent that Police Chief Mike Koval said that the case is being treated as an attempted homicide.

“The brutality, the savagery of this attack is something the likes of which typically I haven’t seen in over 30 years of policing,” Koval said during a press conference.

The person of interest is described as a Latino or light complected black male with brown eyes who appeared to be approximately 25 years old. He is about 5’07” tall with an average build, prominent cheek bones that were higher near his ears. His eyes appear slightly sunken. This male had a 5 – 7 day patchy beard growth. He was last seen wearing a baggy hoody and blue jeans.

The woman involved in the attack is still in the hospital after being found on the Capital City Bike Path.
