The Marquette men’s basketball team won for the first time this season, knocking off Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis (IUPUI) 75-71 in overtime. The Golden Eagles prevailed despite committing 20 turnovers.
Guard Duane Wilson (16 points) sealed the victory for Marquette. With the shot clock running down, Wilson hit a driving layup and drew a foul. Wilson added the free throw to give the Golden Eagles a four-point lead with 15.9 seconds left.
Henry Ellenson scored 18 points to lead the Golden Eagles. Nine of the 18 points came at the free throw line. Junior center Luke Fischer added 17 points and ten rebounds.
Marquette (1-1) returns to action on Thursday night, playing host to the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Bradley Center.
