The UW-Milwaukee Panthers scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to break open a close game and went on to beat Denver 71-58 in the opening round of the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California.
It’s the Panthers first season opening win since the 2012-’13 season.
Austin Arians scored 20 points to lead the Panthers. He finished six of 14 from three-point range. Matt Tiby went 12 for 13 from the free throw line and added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers.
The Panthers hit 20 of 21 from the free throw line for the game.
Milwaukee faces Lipscomb tonight (Saturday) at 7:30.
