A state lawmaker from Marshfield, who serves on the Assembly’s Transportation Committee, will head up a national trucking industry group.

Rep. John Spiros (R-Marshfield) has been elected to a two-year term as president of the Trucking Industry Defense Association. The group serves the trucking industry in the United States and Canada regarding safety and claims issues. Spiros says “it’s the only organization that does a skills and a cargo training period for new members that have come in to the trucking industry for claims or safety personnel.”

The 86th Assembly District Republican says the new position is a good fit with his place on the Assembly’s Transportation Committee, and also his private sector job as Vice President of Safety and Claims for Roehl Transport of Marshfield. “They deal with a lot of commercial vehicle issues, and a lot of issues that are on the highways and our infrastructure. And that’s the same with the trucking industry, they deal with the same.”
