Horse in Waupaca County molestation investigation dies

December 23, 2015 By WRN Contributor

There’s a new issue with a Waupaca County case where someone severely injured and sexually assaulted a horse. Waupaca County Sheriff Brad Hardel has confirmed that the injured mare and the foal she was carrying died Saturday morning. Hardel said the remains of the horse have been taken to the state crime lab for a necropsy examination to determine the cause of death. Hardel said Wednesday that the examination has not been completed, and they do not yet know if the deaths are connected to the original assault.

Information related to the assault and injury to the horse is still being sought. The Humane Society of the United States has also stepped in, offering a $5,000 dollar reward for information that leads to a conviction. A veterinarian determined the mare was five months pregnant when she was molested November 28th or 29th at a property near Crain Road and Highway T in the Town of Lebanon near New London. At the time, investigators expected the horse and foul to survive. They have talked to a person of interest, but they have very little to go on right now.
