A morning shootout on a section of Interstate 43 near Milwaukee forced law enforcement to close the freeway for several hours Wednesday.
According to a release from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to calls about a shooting on I-43 near the Marquette Interchange, just after 10:10 a.m. The department said more than a dozen shots were fired into a vehicle during an exchange of gunfire with another vehicle, with one occupant being grazed by a bullet.
Officials says four people are in custody and a weapon was recovered. All vehicles were towed as evidence.
I-43 southbound was shut down for over four hours, while officers collected evidence at the scene. The freeway reopened at about 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon.
