Ex-Habitat leader skips out on child porn sentencing

January 6, 2016 By WRN Contributor

An ex-director of Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity chapter was a no-show for his sentencing hearing for possessing child pornography. A Winnebago County judge issued a warrant for 32-year-old Jay Barrientes Wednesday morning, and revoked the his $10,000 bond.

The former director of Habitat’s Sheboygan-based Lakeshore Chapter was convicted of two counts of possessing child pornography last September. Barrientes reached a plea deal in the case, and prosecutors dropped eight other charges.

Court records say Barrientes had thousands of pictures on his computer, and about 100 videos that also appeared to show child pornography. Police targeted him last April, after an investigator downloaded a video through a file sharing website.
