Fourth body recovered from Walworth County lake

January 8, 2016 By Bob Hague

The body of the fourth victim involved in a January 3 fatal canoe incident in Walworth County has been recovered. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department and its medical examiner team identified the fourth victim as 21-year-old Patrick M. Wetzel. The state Department of Natual and reopened the Mill Lake area of Lake Beulah, DNR Recreational Safety Warden Jason Roberts said.

The three other victims were recovered earlier this week. Roberts said the DNR investigation will continue. “The DNR will be completing and compiling reports from the various assisting agencies during the next several weeks.”

Investigators believe the four men, all from the Chicago area, took a canoe from a boat house early Sunday morning, heading out onto the lake near the East Troy house where they were staying with a larger group.

The other victims were identified as 20-year-old Lanny Patrick Sack, 21-year-old Christopher J. McQuillen, and 21-year-old Mori Wienstein.
