The Marquette Golden Eagles got a break from the Big East on Wednesday night, knocking off Stetson 74-60 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Golden Eagles were up big early, but lost most of their 26-point halftime lead. Stetson used a 19-2 run in the first five-plus minutes of the second half to cut the deficit to 49-40. But the Hatters wouldn’t get any closer.
Jajuan Johnson tied a career high with 22-points, Haanif Cheatham had 13 points and Henry Ellenson added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (14-7, 13-5 Big East).
Marquette returns to Big East action Saturday when they host Butler.
