Rally planned in support of Steven Avery, Brendan Dassey

January 28, 2016 By WRN Contributor

makingamurderManitowoc Police are preparing for a planned peaceful protest, in support of convicted murderers Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey.

Police Captain Larry Zimney says several hundred people are expected to Rally Friday near the county courthouse and sheriff’s office. He says contact with the organizers so far has been cooperative and cordial, and “nobody intends to create any kind of disturbance.”

The gathering comes in response to a Netflix series released last month, which focuses on Avery and Dassey’s trials for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach. “Making a Murderer” has raised questions about whether they may have been framed for Halbach’s killing, and has prompted worldwide calls for the two men to be released from jail and granted new trials.
