Two people are dead in an overnight shooting in Rice Lake. Police were called to the scene just before 10:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and screaming. Rice Lake police officers responded to a downtown apartment building, along with Barron County Sheriff’s deputies and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Police said they found a woman dead inside the apartment and the building was evacuated. After a search of the building, a man was also found dead inside. The victims are identified as 37-year-old Cheri Fullarton and 32-year-old Justin Lowrie. Rice Lake investigators said they recovered numerous items of evidence, including a handgun.
