Danielson turning heads at P-G-A event

February 19, 2016 By Bill Scott

Whistling Straights hole 1Northwest Wisconsin golfer Charlie Danielson is turning heads at the P-G-A’s Northern Trust Open.

The University of Illinois senior from Osceola is tied for fifth place after the first round, shooting a four-under-par 67 on  Thursday in Pacific Palisades, California.

Danielson, who qualified by winning a college showcase on Monday, is four strokes behind first-place Camilo Villegas.

Madison’s Steve Stricker and Pewaukee native Mark Wilson are both tied for 56th, after shooting even-par 71’s on Thursday.

A handful of players still have to finish their first rounds early Friday after darkness set in near the end of their opening round on  Thursday.
