February 1, 2016 By Bill Scott

MarquetteGoldenEagles2A month ago, the Marquette women’s basketball team fell to number-25 Seton Hall by 31 points.  Sunday, the Golden Eagles showed the Pirates just how much they’ve improved.

Freshman Allazia Blockton had 21 points and ten rebounds, her eighth double-double of the season, leading Marquette to a 89-82 win over Seton Hall.

It’s the fifth-straight win for the Golden Eagles (11-11, 6-5 Big East).

Marquette led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter before Seton Hall (17-5, 7-4) went on a run, cutting the lead to 71-66.  But the Golden Eagles went on a 9-0 run to put the game away.

Wisconsin falls

In the Big Ten, the Wisconsin Badgers (6-14, 2-8 Big Ten) fell to the Michigan State Spartans (16-4, 7-2) 77-54 before a crowd of 9,436 at the Kohl Center.

Nicole Bauman had 19 points to lead the Badgers, who shot just 34% for the game and 14% in the final quarter.
