Presque Isle couple identified as crash victims

Investigators have released the names of a Presque Isle couple killed in a Friday afternoon Vilas County crash. Eighty-six year-old Ronald Barnes and his 83 year-old wife Amy Barnes died after crashing with another car occupied by a couple from Sayner.

Sheriff Joseph Fath says the Barnes’ vehicle was northbound on County Highway M by Vandercook Road when it crossed the center line into the path of the other vehicle.

The names and medical conditions of the 67-year-old man and 55-year-old woman in the other car. The crash kept Highway M closed for several hours after the 3:30 p.m. crash.
