St. Norbert College extends win streak

February 10, 2016 By Bill Scott

St. Norbert College logo11th ranked St. Norbert College extended their Midwest Conference win streak to 60 games, clinching their sixth outright conference title in the last seven years, rolling past Lake Forest College 69-44.

The Green Knights (19-2, 16-0 MWC) became the first Midwest Conference team to win four straight titles in 65 years.  Beloit won six-straight titles from 1946 to 1951.

Ben Bobinsky had 17 points and D.J. DeValk added 16 to lead the Green Knights.

defensively, St. Norbert kept Lake Forest (10-9, 8-7) from allowing anybody to score in double figures.  Eric Porter led Lake Forest with nine points.

The Green Knights can tie Wheaton College’s record for consecutive league wins among current N-C-A-A Division-Three schools on Saturday, when they host Knox College in the regular season home finale.  A win there and the Knights will have a chance to break the mark on February 20th in the regular season finale at Cornell.

Lady Knights clinch share of title

In women’s play, St. Norbert College clinched at least a share of a record 14th Midwest Conference title with a 61-38 win over Lake Forest.

The Knights need just one win in the last two games to clinch the title outright, which would give them hosting duties for the Midwest Conference Tournament on February 26-27.

Jill Kleiman had 15 points to lead the Green Knights (17-4, 16-0 MWC).
