Green Knights suffer Sweet 16 loss

March 11, 2016 By Bill Scott

The St. Norbert College Green KnightsSt. Norbert College logo rallied from an 11-point deficit to take the lead, but couldn’t hold off Alma College, falling 70-64 in a NCAA Division III Tournament sectional semifinal game at Benedictine University.

The Green Knights were making their first Sweet 16 appearance since 1984, but saw their season end at 25-3.  Alma (24-6) advanced to face either host Benedictine or Ohio Wesleyan in the sectional championship.

Mitch Winter’s 3-pointer gave St. Norbert a 62-61 lead with 3:02 to play in the game, but the Scots answered on their next possession and would not trail again.

St. Norbert shot 42% from the floor for the game and 25% from beyond the three-point arc.  D.J. DeValk had 21 to lead the Knights.
