Howard village trustee arrested on child sex charges

March 11, 2016 By WRN Contributor

Bond has been set at $20,000 for a Howard village trustee accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls. Green Bay police have referred multiple charges against 62-year-old James Widiger. Captain Kevin Warych said Widiger is accused of child sexual assault while he gave private piano lessons.

“There are two victims, and we believe their ages are 14 and now 26. The 26-year-old victim was assaulted in 2003 when she was 13-years-old,” Warych. “We learned that this two victims had reported some behaviors that were very concerning to us, and which led to us referring charges over to the district attorney’s office.”

Widiger appeared in Brown County court Friday and had his bond set, although formal charges have not been filed as the prosecution said it needed more time to investigate. Widiger was elected to the village board in 2005.
