Janesville police are bracing for large crowds during Tuesday afternoon’s rally by Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Deputy Chief Jim Holford said the Trump campaign has issued more tickets than the space at the Holiday Inn Conference Center allows.
“The venue holds 1,000 people. They have issued 5,000 tickets, and monitoring some social media sites we believe there are upwards of 2,500 who intend to come to voice a counter message to the trump campaign, so it could be fairly significant in numbers.”
Holford said police will be prepared, but vehicle and pedestrian restrictions are planned. Doors open at 1:00 and the rally is expected to begin at 3:00.
“There will be an outside area designated for people who wish to use their free speech right, and that area will be well-marked and assigned for people to come and deliver what ever messages they wish to deliver.”
