March 3, 2016 By WRN Contributor

An animal rights group from California is offering a reward for information in the shooting death of a German Shepherd that was taken from its owner between Darlington and Mineral Point a month ago.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the the death of Bo, a dog abducted from a farm between Mineral Point and Darlington. Bo’s owners, Sarah and Brad Crist, reported him missing from their farm on February 6th.

Bo’s body was found in Grant County, in a ditch near Ellenboro three weeks later. Brad Crist said a veterinarian determined that Bo had been shot 12 to 48 hours before his body was discovered.

Animal cruelty is a felony in Wisconsin, punishable by a 3-and-a-half year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000. Dognapping is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of up to nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. Anyone with information can call the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department at (608) 776-4870.
