Two students have been injured in a shooting outside of the Antigo high school prom.

The two were shot by a person armed with a rifle around 11 p.m. as they exited the school.  Police officers patrolling the parking lot responded immediately and fired upon the shooter, stopping them from doing more damage.

Antigo Police Chief Eric Roller said, “At this point, we feel that we have the subject in custody that was a threat. The community is safe at this point.”

The students suffered non-life threatening injuries.  According to WAOW Newsline 9, one of them has already been released from Aspirus Langlade Hospital while the other two have been moved to another hospital for treatment.

The other students attending the prom were escorted from the building safely.  Families have been notified of the shooting, but no names have been released.
