Back in 2008, former Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton was backing Hillary Clinton for President. Today she’s campaigning for Bernie Sanders. “There is no contest this time around,” said Lawton, a Democrat who served as lieutenant governor from 2003 to 2011. “I feel a real sense of urgency for us as a nation.”
“What we need is somebody who has experience and bold vision and strong leadership, to restore middle class in this country, and to restore strength to our democracy,” Lawton said.
The most recent Marquette Law School Poll indicated that Sanders had a narrow lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, with the Vermont Senator pulling about 49 percent support compared to Clinton’s 45 percent.
